Researcher in Residence

The Researcher in Residence scheme gives research scientists the opportunity to go into a local school and spend time with the students with the aim of encouraging them to consider science as a career.

During my PhD I spent time at Trinity School in Nottingham where I was involved in a number of activities from giving talks on scientific careers to helping out in science classes and taking an A-level revision class on particle physics – a subject which the teachers found difficult to communicate as they were not familiar with the topic.

I was awarded a Science Communicators' Award by the Researcher in Residence scheme for making an outstanding contribution to the communication of science during my time at Trinity.
